Do I Need Witnesses for My Document?
A notary and a document witness are not automatically the same role. Some documents call for one or more witnesses in addition to notarization; others do not.
Check before the appointment
The document preparer, attorney, or receiving organization should tell you whether witnesses are required and what qualifications they must meet. A notary should not invent witness requirements or give legal advice about the document.
Tell the notary early
If your document requires witnesses, say so when requesting the appointment. Best Mobile Notary can arrange two witnesses when needed, but that coordination should happen before arrival rather than at the signing table.
Keep the roles clear
The notary performs the notarial act required by the document. Witnesses perform the witness role required by the document. Those functions can have different rules, so confirming the paperwork in advance prevents avoidable delays.
