What Documents Need to Be Notarized?
Whether a document needs notarization depends on the document, the transaction, and the requirements of the party that will receive it. A notary should not choose the document for you or decide what legal form you need.
Start with the document itself
Look for a notarial certificate, instructions from the document preparer, or directions from the attorney, agency, financial institution, court, or other organization receiving the document. If you are unsure whether a notarization is required, ask the party that prepared or requested the document.
Prepare before the mobile appointment
Have the complete document ready and bring acceptable identification. Do not rely on the notary to draft, select, or interpret the document. If the paperwork also calls for witnesses, identify that before the appointment so witness logistics can be discussed.
Why a mobile appointment can help
A mobile notary comes to the agreed location, which can simplify appointments involving multiple signers, estate paperwork, offices, hospitals, nursing homes, or people who have difficulty traveling.
